Anybody out there ever build one? I really like the 375X30-06, it almost does what a 375 H&H will do with a lot less powder. I figure the 308 version wouldn't be too bad with lighter bullets. Just wondering if there are any out there...

that would be a neat little cartridge, put a new barrel on a ruger compact, good bear medicine

For a long time I have been thinking of something similar. .375 in a 8x57 mauser case. Basically the old 9.5x57, but nowadays you could use 375 JDJ dies and probably data too. This in a 20" barreled 98 action would be nice bear medicine. Or medium range elk, deer, moose...

I think I spend too much time at the loading bench just playing.

That's a calibre I've thought about as well. It would work real well out of 20" barrel on model 70 short action. Load it up with some 260 accubonds, it would be dynamite on big samber stags here in New zealand.

  Not trying to discount your idea of this 375 wildcat, but do you think it would be better in some way then a 358 Win. ?    I am working on a 375 of my own right now so I have nothing againt the idea .    Jedman

I have a 358 and really like it. In reality it does everything you'd need a hunting rifle to do. But the 375 version would throw more lead, so what's not to like? Plus I have a bunch of 375 moulds and only one gun to use them in, and I'm thinking 310grains or so at around 2000 fps would be pretty effective on game. (Or if you wanted to go the other way, the little 210s at around 2600. About the same as the 358 with 180s.)

Check a copy of Wolfe Publishing's Wildcats.  There were several articles in Handloader in years past.

Someone on one of the web forums, I don't remember which, has already done it and named it the .375 Jaguar. He had offered at one time to make his reamer available but that was a while back. Try GOOGLE
