A NEF 17mach2.....is it something different
« on: October 18, 2011, 01:45:28 PM »
Presently , I am selling a four barrel Sportster set on GB. One of the barrels is a 17mach2....why are people telling me NEF didn't make a Mach2...is it something different.
17 are habit forming..I now have four...with my first Sportster17hmr, on a sunny day I took seven ground hogs and two coyotes.....just gatta shoot them in the head......also shot a three shot quarter inch group at 100...I like the 17 as you can tell.

NEF didn't offer the .17 Mach2 for very long. Those who have them like them very much ( love?). Avidly sought after by those in the know. To me, it is the .17 HMR minus 75 yards..

Just one.... :o ::)

I said it before and I'll say it again, Its is BY FAR THE most accurate rim fire I have ever owned or fired.  Those of you who know me, (Or read my proclamations in the past)know I have shot about all of them! From ultra hi dollar rifles like Anschutz, Feinwerkbau, Winchester 52's, Kimbers, Weatherbys, Browning's, and run of the mill Mossbergs, Marlins, Winchesters and Remington's. In pistols from Benelli, Walther, Pardini, Hamerilli, High Standard, S&W, Ruger, Beretta and Colt.
This thing flatly shoots and shoots very very well! Easily a one hole 50 yard shooter.

One of my first trips to the range with it I learned it was a remarkable shooter. A fello was on the range shooting a M1 carbine. I had to wait for a cease fire to hang targets so I was shooting pieces of clay pigeon on the banks waiting. He finished and looked over at me. I recognised him as one of my customers form the store and we started talking and shooting. Pretty soon a friendly shooting contest arose... I was able to hit his bullet hole every time. We switched and he did the same!!! I dont know for sure, but would bet a sizable $$amount he went out and bought himself one of these rifles!! (I have sold at least a dozen USH 12Ga the same way!!)

I also LOVE MINE!!!

I happened to get one of these about 4 years ago and never knew it's potential until lately. I've taken it squirrel hunting this season and can easily shoot through limbs and get squirrels out to 50 yards with head shots. This thing is so flat that a baseball sized hole in the limbs and twigs is all I need for a kill...........at 50 yards. :o  My only fear is the ammo drying up like the 5mm Remington. I scoped mine with a 6x18 with an adjustable objective lens and all I do is set in one spot and pick em off.

You really don't ever know what the ammo companies are going to do and I keep a sizable supply of the MII ammo. Flash you are aware of the 5mm ammo that is being produced now? Kurt

For over a year now I simply buwow box or two every time I'm in a gun store that carries it.
I now have quite a supply built up.

Yes but my 591 has been gone for over 20 years now. I have the MACH2 and the HRM so I don't miss it but I hope the same thing doesn't happen to these.

Good 'investment' too, if they ever do stop making it you wont have any trouble getting your money back (unlike stocks, bonds or mutual funds).

I took it out squirrel hunting yesterday and with a 6x18 Pro Hunter, I made a head shot at 100 yards. This thing is unbelievably accurate.

Oh gosh yeah. I use the noise maker from a dog squeaky toy between my teeth and blow it to make them stop. This guy was 100 yards, if not farther and at 18x, I was able to pick the spot on his head that I wanted to hit. I put the cross hairs on his cheek and sqeezed. I couldn't believe my eyes. I can't imagine why this caliber was discontinued.
