336 RC unfired, Whats it worth?
« on: July 07, 2011, 11:29:28 AM »
I have a 336 RC straight stock with the gold ring. Just like new, bought it many years ago and was told it is unfired. Anybody know what it might be worth and a good place to list it for sale. Thanks!

You can ask what it is worth, but if the thread turns into a classified ad I will pull it.  The best place to post it is on the classified board.  Check the gun auction sites and see what they are selling for.  Make your price appropriate and the classifieds here at GBO are as good a place as any.

Good luck.

It might help if we had some idea what year it was and what calipier . Then a picture would help too.

If you think it is unfired , then you are not sure , So I say it is good to excellent condition.
Having fired one round or 10 would not hurt the value . ;D

One thing is certain, if you have the original box, papers and other related stuff, it will be worth a whole lot more .  That is if it`s in pristine condition.

I've bought several unfired for about $400.00.

What's it worth? About half what folks are asking for them these days. I've never paid more than $200 for a Marlin lever rifle and yes I've had several of them. I'd have a few more but the prices folks are asking these days I just can't see me paying it.

I'll take that back I remember paying $450 for an 1894 Cowboy in .45 Colt with 26" barrel. That was the least accurate Marlin I've ever owned. I honestly can say I don't miss that one.

Robin,

I'm not trying to bash your rifle, but if you think you've got a $1,000 gun you don't.

Assuming it's a .30-30, if it is in excellent condition, and with no box or papers, you are looking at around $400 to $450.  Remember, its USED not new.  Nobody is going to take your word for it that it is unfired.

With box and papers, you may get $50 more.

If it is a .35 Remington, the you can add about $100 extra to it.

    Hope this helps.

If you doubt me, then go to a large gun show and walk around with it.  You will see.

Is it a Texan?  Do you have pictures?  What is the year of manufacturer?
Please dont take this the wrong way but unfired to me does not increase the value.

No, just a moderator who has had to remove way to many threads that start like this and turn into classified ads.

I don't think they are all on purpose.  People get caught up in the moment.  An early post normally prevents mistakes from happening.
