Scope Mount
« on: October 02, 2003, 05:23:44 AM »
:?   I have a Dan Wesson 741.  I just recently bought a 4 power Leaupold.  Now I need to get a scope mount.  I have really been looking at the B-Square type that clamps to the vent rib.  Has anyone had any experiance with this?  Is this as dependable as the the drill and type?  Any advice would be great.  Thanks!

I have the B-square mount and I use it for my model 41 made in Monson MA.  It works great for load testing, but is a little bulky for hunting.  I got the mount when I purchased the pistol.  I think Leupold makes a set of rings that clamp onto the rib which would be the route I would go if I had to start from scratch.  Several other manufactures also might make a similiar set up.  While testing ammo for my new manufactured 722, I had to remove a little of the aluminum on the clamps to fit the rib.

Thanks for the info.  Do you know where the best place to go to get info on the type of rings you spoke of?

I am not sure.  A call to Leupold might been in order.  One of my shooting buddies has a set for his Dan Wesson, but he is out of town so I can't get the part number.  You also might look at setups for the Colt Python.  The ribs might be close enough to not matter.

Got a Burris mount

I found a dealer here locally that had a Burris mount. Found the dealer by Emailing Burris. They replied with a local dealer that still had some mounts (they are discontinued from Burris). The mount is much better quality than Bsquare and all steel. I put it on my 357 Supermag (fit the 445 also) and it is very solid. Sits low and for my 2X Burris scope I can use low rings. I can send you a picture if you want. Email me at chazgin@direcway.com
