ratdog: They are not big enough to mess with. They are no bigger than a Gerbil. Tiny little things, that likes to get into the engine compartment insulation on Diesel trucks. We declared war against them around here five years ago. I keep a pellet gun handy, and shoot them on sight. I sometimes get three of four a day. If I shoot one with the .17HMR, there is usually nothing left but a tail and head. They got into my shed last winter, and ruined four foam mattresses.
I set a #1 trap under a tree in the yard(Trap for Muskrats). A Red Squirrel came and sat on the pan. It set there eating a pine cone. Left and came back twice. On the third time it sat on the pan, the trap finally sprung.
