BC fun today
« on: August 29, 2011, 01:21:44 PM »
Took the BC 45/70 to the range today. Perfect conditions. Upper 70's and little wind. I have it zeroed in at 200yds and deceided to try for 300. I had to have a 48 inch hold over to hit the target.I stapled a sight target on a 1x3 and set it 48 inches above where I wanted the bullet to hit. Once I figured that out, I was able to put 5 in a 7 inch circle at 300 yds. No bad for using the Williams Target sights. Next time I'm breaking out the gong and gonna time how long it is between trigger pull and sound of 405 gr Rem. hitting the gong. Too much fun.

Don't bother timing it.  It's two sips of coffee ::) ::)   Ain't it wonderful??

the time it takes to get there
will be less than the time it takes the sound to get  back

be interesting to know the difference
the sound will be  1100 fps  and constant
the bullit will be 1200 to 1300 and decreasind velocity

The trajectory with trap door loads is like shooting my bow up to 40 yds.

time needed for the bullet to reach the target would change a little depending upon headwind or tailwind.  I doubt it would be easy to measure the change unless he is shooting in a hurricane. ;D
