Good deal, shows they have some class and respect for America. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D

How so? Not attending an event honoring one of their own, that the president is putting on... how is that classy?

This is from the article, written by one of the editors:
Quote
You'd think whatever photo shoots or sponsor appearances these drivers have lined up on Wednesday afternoon – if that's indeed the reason – could be rescheduled. After all, this is the President of the United States we're talking about here. For a sport that prides itself on patriotism, having so many drivers turn down the president's invitation simply seems strange.

It sure does... seems pretty lame, too. Looks like Kurt Busch was never on the Stoopid Bandwagon, and will be attending after all. Here's what he said:

Quote
"We'll be there next Wednesday," he said. "I mean, who would turn down the opportunity to go to the White House? To me, it's an honor and it's a privilege. I've had the chance to meet Bush and Obama in the past. To be a Chase driver and go to the White House, it's an important visit because I might not make the Chase every year, and I'll miss out on those opportunities."

Busch had to move his official photoshoot for next season, which has to be completed by the end of September. That makes this month even busier for Busch than it already was, but he said moving the date was "obviously the right choice."

He's got the right perspective.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Not according to the drivers:

It doesn't have anything to do with politics.

When word got out that Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle, Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards wouldn't be going to the White House next Wednesday, it sparked plenty of chatter on talk shows and social media networks. There was speculation the four were making some sort of protest about Obama's policies on behalf of a generally conservative sport.

Nonsense, insisted Biffle, who said he has to go to a two-day retreat in Minnesota for 3M, the major sponsor of his No. 16 car. The event has been scheduled for months and will be attended by clients from around the world.

"I saw some comments that we rejected the invitation," Biffle said Friday at Atlanta Motor Speedway. "To me, that's not what we did. Rejecting means, 'No, I don't want to go. I'm not going to go. You can't make me go.' That's rejecting. Having a conflict and not being able to participate is something different."

Stewart also had a scheduling conflict, though he declined to go into details.

"Trust me, if we could be there, we'd definitely be there," he said. "I've always viewed it as an honor just to get an invitation to go. I've enjoyed every trip every time I've gone there. I've learned more and more about it. And it's pretty cool feeling to be with most powerful man in the world. That's not an invitation we take lightly."

Eight other drivers who made last year's Cup playoff, including five-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson, plan to be there along with NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France.

"Regardless of political views, when (president of the United States) sends an invite and wants to honor you at the White House, you accept," Johnson wrote on Twitter, accompanied by a hash tag with the word "respect." He added that some fans had complained about him accepting an invitation from Obama.
Well, it ain't Johnson's fault that some of his fans have less class than he does.

I'm not much of a Nascar fan, but I am sure a fan of these men. Why would someone want to attend a meeting with someone who is 180 degrees oposed to your way of life. The parasite messiah is only trying to extend his parasitic tentacles.

As for Patriotism, BO works for the people not vice versa, the horrible things he has done to America is as unpatriotic, and even treasonous as it gets.

Watch and see I guarentee, the parasite messiah will unleash his government thugs on these fine Patriotic Americans who snubs his vile invite.

I agree with many of your thoughts, Powderman. On this occassion you are dead wrong. Out of respect for the office, out of respect for the country, you do not skip a visit to the whitehouse, by invitation of the President.

Long standing commitments are valid reason, barely.

While I am just a nobody, not a race car driver or of any renown, retired with some spare time, I would turn down the invitation myself. I have no respect for the man and would do nothing to further his political agenda by my presence.
I hope I'm still alive come next election, so I can vote against him again. Maybe it will stick next time.
Obama has abused the once fine office of President of The United States of America. Tarnished it. Besides, I'm crawdad hunting that day.

PS, for the record, I realize I would never be invited there for anything, anyway.  ;)

How "Classy" was it when Paul McCartney went to the White House last year and while giving a speech mocked former president Bush? Obama laughed and thought it was funny. That was the "library" comment.

How "Classy" was it when Obama recently laughed about the "shovel ready" jobs that his fake stimulus plan was going to create. He thought that was just a gas!

Obama has no class so why should people with class attend anything put on by this loser and his administration??

Good for the drivers.

I thought it was funny; Dubya probably would have laughed a little mouthiness, he's prone to it, too. And yes... Sir Paul is classy. He can still rock at 70...

Is it just me, or was Obama moving and clapping out of time like some kind of white man?

Thats right, all it was for is to look better in the public eye, because he knows many Americans like Nascar. I don't blame them one bit for not attending Obama's little charade for more votes.

McCartney and classy should not even be used in the same sentence. A visitor from another country is invited to the White House to receive a prestigious award from the library of congress. Then he has the gull to take a cheap shot at a former president who is now a private citizen minding his own business. He also felt the need to tell Obama's critics that "Obama is a great guy and he is a huge fan, so lay off"  If you call that the act of a classy man, I guess your definition of classy is different then most. McCartney is the same guy who had issues with the movie Bambi.  Limousine liberal would be more fitting than classy.

Zero invites twelve NASCAR drivers to the White House for a photo op, with only a week's prior notice. The drivers all have prior commitments, because they are busy guys this time of year. Zero has nothing else to do that Wednesday, because that is the day he wanted to read his jobs speech to a joint session of congress and Boehner said, "No, we're kind of busy that day. How about Thursday, as long as you finish before the football game starts?"

The real story here should be "Eight NASCAR drivers manage to clear time in their busy schedules for meeting at White House", not "Four don't".

I agree and I am glad tthese fine patriotic Amerocans did not help the enemy of America. It has nothing to do with class, it has to do with being a patriot.
