« on: September 02, 2011, 10:17:33 AM »
While in Gt.Falls ,Mt ,today an article in a mag @ Dr.s office lead me to a 1885 cannon in a cematary .
Took pictures and got a bit of history off the plaque.
Was on Ellis Island before Statue of Liberty . Shipped to Montana in 1898 .

pictures and more of a story to follow , we are off on our 50th Ann wedding celebration , Will check Ft.Benton for cannons

Later........

Uh, the Statue of Liberty is not on Ellis Island, she is on Liberty Island, Ellis was the intake point for immigrants.

Actually before it became Liberty Island when there was just fort Wood there it was called
Bedloe's Island..... and the National park system still calls it Bedloe's Island.....

Holy matrimony, fifty! Congratulations to Ernie and wife! Hey, the only cannon you should be concerned about at a time like this, is a solid gold miniature version designed to be worn hanging from your wife's neck. Happy Golden Anniversary!
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.
