Got "bit" yesterday...
« on: September 07, 2011, 03:26:01 AM »
…by a loose battery cable.  I hauled the tractor and the repaired disc harrow 30-minutes to the property yesterday afternoon.  I took off all of the restraining chains, let down the trailer ramps, and danged if the tractor would not start.  Now that is a brand new battery in there.  The "+" side has a loose cable within the terminal.  I didn’t have jumper cables with me either.

So I took the golf cart and a scarifier board (double sheet of plywood w/10-penny nails driven half way through) around the edge of my Big Field about 50 times.  It made a reasonable seed bed.  I would prefer a 4’ x 4’ or 4' X 8' board w/railroad spikes over the nails, but beggars can’t be choosy.
I hauled the tractor back to the house and intend to use my neighbor's zip box welder and flux to get the loose battery terminal solidly connected to the cable.  I am TIRED of the Gremlins when works need to be done.

I find I am having a low tolerence for undependable equipment these days.  I hope your fix is the last one needed for the season.

Good luck

When every chore takes two or three times to "get it right".  When equipment that worked fine one day just up and fails the next - ah Maintenance.  When I get ready to do a job and find the one thing I need isn't where it is supposed to be and have to search.  When I get started and there are parts or tools or fluids or "name it" that isn't immediately on hand.  Well, you get the picture.  Time is becoming more and more precious.  Wasted time just irritates me to no good end.  >:(   The tool box handle let go - again.  :o   I have babied it enough.  Metric and English wrenches and sockets all over the concrete floor again (glad it isn't dirt).  I let myself "go" and destroyed the box.  :-[   "I have had enough of this!"  Now I need another.  And once again I have to reset the whole tool box.  I may get some satisfaction shooting that box to smitherines at the range today.  ;D

But what a good outlet you have for your frustrations, venting your old tool box. If it wasn't worth much as a tool box it might make a pretty good target.

Just think what it must be like for some dude in a tiny apartment that can't go out and shoot his toolbox, has to keep all that pent up. Or do guys who spend their days in tiny apartments get frustrated???
