Fort Benning Howitzers
« on: September 13, 2011, 08:47:14 AM »
The new National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning, Ga. has a nice matched pair of Spanish Howitzers. The wheels are around 4.5 feet tall. The bronze barrels are very nice, clean, and must have been kept inside most of their life. The carriages are very nicely crafted, well fitted, and their design appears to be straight from page 53 of the book, "Round Shot and Rammers." Very pretty pieces.

What an interesting design on the wheels.  Curved spokes.  I like it!
