As a general rule should a 3" slug be more accurate than a 2 3/4" since it closer the the rifeling.

Both my 20ga Tracker II and my sons 20ga USH have 3" chambers. The TrackerII shot 3 shots into 2 holes touching at 75 yards with 2 3/4" lightfields. My sons USH will clover leaf 2 3/4" buckhammers at 75 yards. and they kill deer just as dead as 3" shells.

I think it may depend upon the way the shell opens up and the plastic rides in forcing cone as it propels the slug downbore. If the cone is short the plastic may compress the slug/sabot from the 3" while the 2 3/4" will just open up and let it slide on through.

The first time I shot my 20ga USH I thought my 2 nd shot missed the paper.  Upon review I discovered that the hole was slightly elongated. A 3 rd confirmed it. This was at 50 yards or so. The next shot was through the heart and lungs of a nice does at about 80 yards. 2 3/4" federals. I use 2 3/4" federals in my 12 GA as well. .

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun
