Could someone explain the Rem Chokes?

I have a 12ga 870 that uses the remington chokes, and I also recently picked up a 12ga 11-87 that takes the remington chokes.  I haven't seen much information on the actual chokes and I'm not really really a shotgun guy so maybe this is a dumb question, but I'd like to know if I can use the same 12ga remington chokes in both my 870 barrel and my 11-87 barrel.  Any thoughts?

Sure, assuming both are same guage.


 However other types won't work, they are different thread size and diameter as well. Winchester uses a propriotory choke for instance. If the choke was added by a smith all bets are off as you could cut the barrel for any style you want.

Remingto has two different choke tube set ups in 12 gauge but only one in the other gauges.

Generally speaking as already stated yes you can use same. If you look at the tubes for each and they look the same they are the same. The newer choke system is a lot different and there is no mistaking it.

I've only had one gun with the new choke tubes. I think so far it's only being used on their higher grade target guns so any field grade would use the standard Remington choke tubes.
