Need some tech help
« on: September 18, 2011, 05:07:12 AM »
I was shooting my old model Contender yesterday at the range with the pistol barrel (357Mag) and then changed to the 30/30 carbine barrel, but when I tried to cock the hammer it just flopped and then I noticed the trigger is will not re-set.  What happened and what does it take to fix it?  I have never had one of these apart and don't really know how it works.  I can see that the hammer spring has no tension on it.  I thank you for any advise that will help me get it up and going again.   Dennis

LD13 yes, I did switch the stocks but I have  used both stocks and barrel combos previously with no problems.  I have it stripped down to the bare reciever now and something is wrong.  I need to take it apart to see if something has come loose such as the hammer spring, or maybe something broke.  I might just start pushing pins out and just see how it all goes.  I am not very good at reading parts diagrams but have looked at the one Graybeard put in the FAQ sticky above, but when I tried to open it up and study it again the pic wouldn't open so I am having all sorts of luck. LOL

I found the problem.  The hammer spring broke!  I ordered 2 new springs from Mike Bellm TC's and hopefully they are not on backorder.
