« on: September 19, 2011, 05:55:10 PM »
Any thoughts out there for using a 270 win, barrel on my Handi?  Is that too much?  Thanks for any advice.

I had a .270 handi, I never killed a deer with it but a friend used it to take 2 mulies before he bought it from me. We have a few bolt .270s in the family and they work well on hogs and very good on deer.
I like a 130 gr bullet. Speer or Nosler work well, I have not taken game with the sierra bullets yet but they print well on paper too. Hope you have good luck.  You will get many thoughts on bullets, if you find one constructed for hunting big game and it hits where you are aiming, it will work. The .270 is a very impressive caliber.  thejanitor

I use a 270 bolt gun.  130 nosler BT's  are good medicine for deer and hogs.
plain remington core lokt 130's if you dont reload work well also.

The 270 is a fine cal. for deer and hogs. If your in a area where you might get hogs on the large size I would go with 140 or above.
