A little experiment
« on: September 25, 2011, 01:06:15 PM »
Like many Encore shooters, I had switched from 777 to BH209 to avoid the crud ring problem.  I have been doing quite a bit of shooting with the Hornady FPB's and have been very happy with the accuracy.

It dawned on me that the diameter of these may be small enough to get past the infamous 777 crud ring.  Finally tried the FPB's with 777 today....and it was a complete success.  I reloaded four times after the first shot and while there is a little more resistance loading than with bh209, it took no more force than loading saboted bullets.

I have nothing against bh209, but I have heard of availability problems from some guys, so just posting this for those who are looking for a bullet to use with 777 that can be reloaded without cleaning between shots.
