My 13 year old daughter took her second deer
« on: September 26, 2011, 07:45:41 PM »
My 13 year old daughter took her second deer this past Sunday (September 25, 2011) during Michigan's 2 days youth hunt. She used a Thompson Center Encore rifle in 223 Remington again which I hand loaded 60 grain Nosler Partitions with H4895 from last year.  Her shot was 60 yards broadside spine shot and the deer dropped in it tracks on the last day during the last minutes of daylight. The little bullet exited again. The hunt was on private (Grandma's) land in Upper Michigan hunting out of a 2 person ladder stand.

The deer suffered a broken antler and was probably a four (fork horn) pointer, but only has 2 point on the left antler. Doesn't matter, can't eat antlers and it was a 100% successful hunt.

Congrats! Good for both of you.
A couple proud folks, the hunter and the father. ;)
