I just picked up a 14" 223 AI Contender barrel and am contemplating powders and bullets. Any load data/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

There is very very little case capacity increase in that AI application. Use .223 data and very cautiously work up a grain or so above book max at most. With this small case and the tiny increase in capacity with most powders two grains is gonna exceed SAMMI pressures for the base case.

It also matters even more what case you are using as there is as much capacity difference between brands in the base case as this AI application adds. Some cases will exceed SAAMI levels even at book max loads.

I had a Contender 223 AI barrel for a time and it shot very well with the following load:

Bullet: Sierra 52 gr. BTHP MatchKing
Case: Federal
Primer: CCI BR-4
Powder: 27.0 gr. of Winchester 748
COAL: About 2.297 in. (bullet seated just off the lands)

I got 3 shot groups at 100 yards in the 0.5 in. range with a scoped Contender handgun.
