« on: October 21, 2011, 08:39:12 AM »
I have a Marble tang sight on my 45-70 bc that as i raise the rear sight the impact of the bullet goes lower. how can this be?  i start at 25yrds with the sight all the down and it is dead on, raise 4clicks up an the imact is 3 in low, 4more clicks up  an it shoots 3in lower. i have repeated this test 3 times with exactly the same results. what gives?

I'd have to say look at the arrow directions on the sights again.  You must be reversing it...   :o

Yep, I think you're clicking it the wrong way.  Couldn't be anything else, unless the whole sight is lose.

Can you post a photo of the mounted sight?  That might tell us something....

Yes, you do move the rear sight in the direction you want the bullet to go (up =up), unless the rules of physics cease to exist in your world that should be what happens.
FWIW, I personally know competition shooters who have turned their rear sight adjustments the wrong way and ruined their day (I would like to deny that I ever have, but.....).
Usually it is from having your brain take a f(lapse) and you see the relationship of the carrier for the eyecup moving against the staff and an optical illusion takes place making you think you are doing it right, when you are not. Thats my story, and Im sticking to it........
