im about to pull the trigger on a 44mag.im thinking i want the compact but not sure.does the compact have the fluted barrel,can you get the 22 inch barrel with sights.what i would like is a 20 inch fluted barrel with open sights.is there a lower scope mount available as i want to put a 20 or 32 scope on it in 1-5 power range.i want to use this gun from a climbing tree stand.the guys that have done the 445 supermag ream jobhow do you like it an hows the accuracy.

I dont believe the 22 inch barrel can be had with open sights.  I also dont believe the 44 magnum is available in the compact (wish it was).  As far as I know only the 7mm-08 and the 243 are available in compact.

I just got a 44 magnum, but it's not a compact.  It does have a fluted barrel, but my understanding is that it is not available with open sights.  It shoots great!

My 445 shoots just as well as the 44 mag,maybe just alittle better.Sure turned it into a potent hog gun.   Digger

thanks guys.i will be ording one this week for $270 out the door.
Ditchdigger so youre more than happy with the 445 super mag.i love the 44mag an think that the 445 would just make it that much better.what kind of 445 loads you running through youre scout.how the mag ammo shoot after the 445 ream job.

My 44 mag shot some ammo I had on hand just under 11/2",and the supermag is about 1"AT 100 YDS.  The 445 is geting close to 2150 fps with a 265 gr hornady and 31 grs. of 296. Expect another 100 fps with a 240 gr. bullet and a near max. load of 296.
I have not expermented with any other loads,so it may shoot even better.   Digger
