« on: November 06, 2011, 07:08:14 AM »
Beings I'm new to the black powder cannon arena I need to ask a few questions.
#1 where does one go to purchase inexpensive black powder in say 5 to 10 lbs. cans, if this is legal for that saize????
#2 Can it be shipped by USPS, UPS , FED EX?????? :-[
#3 Not getting much bang for the charge, should I put a cover card over the charge???? How tight must it be packed.
I have 3 js brooks cannons so far and looking for a couple of others. Threw a couple of ones purchase as home made on e-bay away, thot life was worth more than $40.00. :)

Try Powder Inc listed in the stickies. Fast to your door UPS delivery and price quoted includes all fees. A++++ service.

Just for a reference, the last 25 pound case I bought from Coonies, and which was mostly sold at CBC2 II, cost about $15.50 a pound counting shipping.  It ships UPS although the delovery drivers seem kind of skittish while they have it on board.  Check out your state laws on the subject as there is great variation state to state.

pssssttttt...hey, little boy...you want some nice black powder?

It's not addictive, honest.  You can quit any time you want.

Right now I think both Powder Inc and Jacks Powder Keg charge $275/case delivered.  You can buy up to 50 lb. at once.  Check both federal and your state regulations for storage.

You didn't mention what the bore diameter your guns are.  Look in the stickys for charge weights.  And how are you forming your cartridges?

I get mine from  Crater,   addictedtoblackpowder.com   I use 3fA and fuse for cannons and BB mortar, It runs like $1.00 a lb. for fuse and $7.00 for 3FA, He can delivery it to shipping at a nice cost.
