Call S&W and they should be able to tell you the turnaround time. I am from the school that S&W should have stayed exclusively with revolvers. A clock-maker should make clocks, not blow-back design of autos or other auto designs. JMHO. A revolver is a clock. That is their specialty and they should stick to that, revolvers. Personally, I don't think the Smith and Walther agreement was sound. I would gladly put my 1984 model 10 against any Walther, brand new, regarding reliability. And if my opponent wanted to pack breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we can test against my Model 19-5.... I'll even use .38 ammo. Smith has gone to great strides to get back to basics with their recent revolver selections, which is great! That is "their" product as far as I am concerned.

I really like the Smith revolvers, and I also have a Smith PPK/S. It's very reliable and accurate, no complaints. It also carries very well. What do I grab when I want to carry? A Smith 637.  ;D  But if I ever had to wear a tux and felt the need to carry....

Wait a minute, S&W is making autoloading pistols???  Next you'll tell me that Colt is making rifles!! ;) ;)

As a S&W revolver fan I have long thought they should get back to basics and make more of the firearm that put them on the map.  I have no experience with the PPK pistol from S&W or other manufacturers but I am interested in hearing what owners have to say about them.

I did a range trip yesterday with the PPK/S man all I can say it drives tacks at 12 yards with federal 90 Gr.FMJ:I was pleased with the flawless cycling of the gun no jams or stove pipes the gun just did what it was made to do work flawless.I had to do something with the hammer spring man took two fingers with the first shot out DA I drop the spring to 17 lbs and it makes a difference

Range update:
I ran the HP Fiocchi ammo threw the gun to day Man what a difference .
I shot 30 rounds no jams no stove pipes and almost no marks on the brass:I think other manufacturers may be using softer brass compared to Fiocchi.I mixed rounds in the clip Winchester Flat Points then HP hp then FMJ NO PROBLEMS I also did notice on fired brass it seems to pick up a few circle marks about 1/4 into the case.I did check out the chamber and it seem a poor polishing job by S@W but I have read it is a common problem either cutting cost $$$ .I would call S@W and ask if I did purchase the gun new other wise it will do what it was made to do SHOOT
