H&R Gamester
« on: October 04, 2011, 08:34:07 AM »
I have a 12ga H&R gamester that I would like to find information on. I have had it for quite a while and fired it may times. Just curious as to how old it might be, how common are they, and things like that. I also have no idea what the choke is. My guess is that it seems to have a full choke, but i have never checked it. Any info would be great. Do any of you have a bolt action H&R shotgun also? Are there any other bolt action models by H&R?

Thanks for the link. Good info there. I am curious to find out if he was ever able to replace the sight dome with a rear sight. I personally have had no luck finding one that would fit without some type of modification. I eventually made a simple, but operable one myself. I am still trying to find a descent replacement. Rifled slugs are a blast to shoot and acurate out to 70yrds +. Just a tad bit hellish on the shoulder though.

Can you put up a pic with a light back ground? Is it a Gamester or a Gamemaster? Are there any #'s on it ? Is it clip feed or tube? BBL length? Lot easier to help with as much info as you can provide. They made @least 5 or even six bolts. I think most production on the bolts ended in the mid 1950's. Kurt

Here is a closer up picture of the gun. It is a Gamester 348 with a 25in barrel. No poly choke. Now that I have looked again I think it is set as modified.

It has the sight ring as well. It is not on the gun here because I replaced it with a temporary rear sight I frabricated to do a little testing with.

All the earier models 20,120,21 and 121 were 4 shot tubes in 16ga were replaced by the model348 begining in 1949 with2 shot tubes in 12 and 16ga and they were all dropped from the line in 1955. Your 25" was probly cut down from 28". There was also a Model 351 Huntsman that was a variation to your gun and a M349 Deluxe that came with Monte Carlo stock and a variable choke. The model 348 was dropped in 1954.Yours appears to be a very nice usable shotgun congrats. Kurt

This is all great info guys. Thanks! By looking at the way the the way the barrrel was measured in the picture of the mod 121, I would have to say that my barrel is probably actually 26in.
