Hey from TN!
« on: September 06, 2011, 10:31:06 PM »
Thought I'd introduce myself, I'm Brad Gainey from TN.  I predator hunt for the most part... wife and girls wouldn't eat any of the wild game I brought home (Quail, Rabbit, Dove, and Deer) so I migrated to hunting coyotes... after hunting them for a while, being my nature I looked at the call I was using, and thought... heck I could make that... it pretty much grew from there.. and I started making my own coyote calls (distress mainly.. they'll call any predator I reckon)  They've turned high end through the years... I don't make that many, spend a bit of time on each one and as I said it's a hobby.. I keep it fun by doing it when I'm in the "mood".  Thought you might like to see a few..

One of my lower end calls... this has a spalted Hackberry barrel.. with a Buffalo horn bead and tone-board.

Pretty much middle of the road... it's a Desert Ironwood burl barrel with pre-ban elephant Ivory bead, and Hippo Ivory toneboard.

Next step up would be this one.. it's a Hippo tooth Ivory barrel with a Buffalo horn tone-board.

To-date this is top of the line... it's a Hippo Tooth Ivory barrel with a Hippo tooth Ivory tone-board.

tough stuff but I noticed a 60 watt light bulb on my lathe will make 'er glow... pretty cool as hard as it is the translucence is amazing!

Hey Yotehntr,

Welcome to the boards....its a great place.

And those look to be awesome calls. Based on looks alone, my personal favorite is the Desert Ironwood burl.

Very nice.  8)
