virginian dragoon question
« on: October 19, 2011, 12:54:01 AM »
Hello, i am looking at a virginian dragoon, it has a 7 1/2 inch barrel and is blued with a case hardened type frame, it has we the people 1776/1976 itched on the bottom, it does not appear to have the swiss safety. The only way i could get the cylinder out is to completely remove the base pin screw and nut and then the base pin will slide out so i can remove the cylinder, is this normal? Other than that the gun is in great shape, it has a very nice plastic comenative box but no paper work, the dealer is asking $280.00 plus tax, thanks pghrich

I owned one many years ago and to be honest dont remember how the base pin came out but ill say this. You bought a good gun at a fair price. There every bit as stout as a super blackhawk and you dont touch them for much under 500 bucks anymore.. The one i had was a very accurate 44 to boot.

It is getting awfully hard to find any kind of a Colt Mdl P clone for that kind of money anymore. Ignore the 'commemorative' stuff, if it is used, rather than 'new in the box' that dont mean a thing, its just a shooter.
