Antelope season ended

Wasn't really planning on ending my 2011 antelope season this morning, but while I was out making my rounds checking water and cows , this lil bugger presented me with a shot the BLR just couldn't pass up.  :D Getting ready to start the jerky seasoning now.

 ;) What caliber is the BLR?????  We just made jerky out of a buck antelope..good stuff....Have a couple does in the freezer for later this year....

It's a 243.
 I prefer antelope for jerky over the rest of the biggame meats. Don't care about eating it just cooked, but I have an elderly couple that are neighbors that like it, so I had Doc come over while I was boning the hams for jerky , and had him take home the backstraps and tenderloin. So now they'll have some good eats(for those that like the stuff anyway) for a few meals.

13, that is what we have found..antelope makes wonderful jerky, better than elk or deer...at one time in early Aug..all the game meat in the freezer went into jerky...but now I have most of it used by that time...as for just eating antelope like we do elk or deer, I am with you, jerky is the way to go...years ago, I had a couple that lived in town ...they were pretty old, and had a small home, a 56 chev. truck, and small pension...each year I gave them a couple antelope...they loved it..I skinned them and delivered them clean and cool...I offered them deer or part of a deer several times, and also elk...but they prefered antelope...in those days with many permits available, I was happy to supply them all they could use... ;)

I'd rather eat pronghorn than any other game meat. Too bad the tags in Arizona are so damn hard to come by.
