Um, Help with fitting an old barrel
« on: October 13, 2011, 10:28:24 AM »
I recently bought an old .410 barrel with a brazed on locking lug.  I am wanting to reweld this lug on a .30 caliber barrel blank and chamber it in 7.62x25 Tok or 30 Mauser. I am having a problem getting the barrel to even fit on my frame.  The pin that activates the ejector seems to be in the wrong location and closing the barrel on the action is very difficult as is opening it.  Once the pin passes the shoulder in the reciever the barrel locks up fine, but getting it fully open or closed is a real pain.

Any Suggestions?
If it has a barrel and shoots bullets I am interested in it and if I don't have one I want one.  Never met a gun I didn't like.

If its a really old 410 it may have been for the small frame they used to make.

Yah I don't have a picture of mine, but it's circa 1926ish lol  My grand dad bought it and it has a very smooth no bump barrel.  Frame is equally smaller.

Question to Bighunt: Does it have a screw mount style barrel stud or a stud with a little notch in it for a slip-on forearm?

It may also be from one of the "Folding" guns they were on the Light Frame also they were non ejecting. Is yours an ejector for sure? Kurt

It has the notched stud forend retainer, and a low profile breech with a groove down the top. The bore is a little dirty/pitted and the ejector is broken, but the stud still locks in ad is very positive so I think it would be an easy fix.

Hmm, not like mine then.  Same stud sounds like, but mine has no line down the top.  8(

My Gramp's old Iver Johnson has a groove down the top of the barrel (chamber) swell.
Does your actually say H&R on it?

No, I don't think it does.
".410 Gauge"
"Choke Bored"

Thats the best I can recall it saying. I know for sure it uses the word "Gauge" instead of "Bore" after .410.
