What's the best thing to remove the crud in the breech plug when using 209 primers. I assume its carbon and water don't cut it. I tried a 22 cal. bronze brush, but it's too big. Brake cleaner??

The Brownells "TCE" stuff works good as well, it is their #083-060-024. Same stuff as Gunscrubber, but not under as high a pressure, so far more actual cleaner in the spray can.

Hot, soapy water is all I've ever used and my breech plugs come out squeeky clean.

Interesting.....I use Ballistol in spray cans. Do you as well or buy the liquid and use it straight?

Brake cleaner? Really? I've never heard of that one. I always use Hoppes 9 on the breechplug.

Sure.

Some folks keep an old mustard jar of most any aggressive cleaner, such as anything that has 1:1 Trichlor in it, and just soak their plugs overnight. Most of the better plugs are 416 SS, so they clean up well.

I use the spray can just because that is the only way the gun shop bought it. It works for me though some with out the spray can would be nicer to use for making cleaner with water ect. Jim
