Good Temperature Stable Powders for 260 Remington
« on: May 09, 2012, 03:37:38 PM »
Who can recommend a good powder that will perform consistently over variable temperatures?  I have been working with Reloder 19 and IMR 4064 so far and have not tried them other than at fall and winter temps.  With summer upon us I want to continue load development, but want something that will be consistent come fall.

I am using my Encore rifle with a 24" barrel, trying Sierra 120 ProHunter and Nosler 130 Accubond bullets.

Thank you in advance,  Rol

I've had good luck with Varget but I think about all loads, (factory or reloads) will lose some velocity when it gets cold.   I work up loads in the summer and if they show no pressure signs, I know they will be fine in the fall/winter.  I use Varget and 120 gr Sierras  in my Encore 6.5x55 which is close to the .260 in ballistics.

RL-19 and H414 both work great in my 260, both have been very temp stable.
Remember it's where the first bullet goes out of a cold barrel that counts most.

Varget is my go-to powder for any cartridge there is factory data listing it.
