How many ______versions of the "ULTRA SLUG" are there!
« on: October 17, 2011, 08:56:56 AM »
Lat week I was out and about and visited Bass Pro, Cabelas, Gander Mountain, Dicks, Pressleys, and a couple of other stores that carry the NEF/Remington ULTRA SLUG and I must have seen a half dozen different ones or so!

Gander has one with a synthetic stock and another (also this one) that's called a "Lite".

Then I was at Dicks and they have one that the box says ULTRA SLUG but it isn't on the barrel - it just says made in Illion or the like...

That particular version looks close to what I feel is one BUT the barrel is not as thick or the whole shotgun as heavy.

Maybe we need a primer on all of them...

Anyway I just thought you all would be interested in what I saw here in Illinois/Missouri last week.

Feel free to comment!

Well I went ahead and got the serial number of the one at Dicks and called H&R. They said its an ULTRA SLUG on a SB1....

I swear its a smaller barrel. I guess I'll measure it now...

Interesting that the Dicks model weighs less, the barrel isn't as wide/thick and doesn't have a hammer extension. It sells for $200.

Maybe the 'Ultra Slug' from Dick's isnt the same as the 'Ultra Slug HUNTER'?

It's probably the Ultra light Slug Hunter with a synthetic stock, it's been the topic of discussion before.

That may be the case as its a wood stock and still does not say ULTRA SLUG or anything else on the barrel like the one I bought at Gander. And I did call H&R last Friday and provided them with the serial number and Order Number to confirm it was an ULTRA SLUG but never thought to add the word HUNTER....

Also this one did not provide a strap either. To me I just to wonder if it's a "special" order (read that cheap) version made for Dicks? Regardless, H&R told me the barrel will be just as good....even though it weighs less.
