Beaver Pond?
« on: October 23, 2011, 05:07:51 AM »
Yesterday while scouting a section of creek, I happend on a nice littel pond that showed all kinds of sign that the beaver had moved in.  The question I have is, why do they push mud up on the bank along the edge of the creek.

All along the edge the is fresh mud lining the creek.

thanks sherppa

Are they making their castor mounds? or is it an effort to raise the water level?
If they are piling mud along the entire length , they may throw up a dam along the creek--next.

Thanks Tom,

What they are doing is lining the edges of the creek bank.

Could they be digging it out, to make it deeper?

That is a possibility, especially if there is a good food source there.
