« on: October 27, 2011, 11:57:20 AM »
I've just aquired a H&R Premier 22 rim fire(yes, there is a space between rim & fire). The top line on the barrel reads; HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ,the bottom line ; WORCESTER MASSACHUSETTE U.S.A. The left side of the barrel reads H&R PREMIER. The right side reads 22 RIM FIRE. the S/N is506XXX(no letter prefix.)Any information on type or variation, year of mfg. Is it safe to shoot sub-sonic loads in it? THANX

It's a blued model ,3 bbl & hard rubber grips. I bought it to use as a tackle box gun. SORRY, I'm not real good at uploading pictures.

Here's a recent thread on the H&R Premier.  :)

Some good info in it.  ;)

You might read it over and try and supply some of that info.
We have a couple experts on H&R's who can probably give you so more info.

farhman87,

You have a 2nd Model PREMIER small frame autoejector 7th Variation, made sometime between 1925 and 1942.  With a serial number in the 500K range it is very late in the series and most likely made between 1939 and end of production.

That variation is the last of the PREMIER guns and was made to handle the then current .22 lr high speed ammo.  If in safe condition to shoot, it should be able to handle any modern factory loaded .22lr cartridges.

This Variation is marked by a grip frame that has no "step-down" in it - i.e.  the grip straps are the same thickness from top to bottom and the panels sit directly on top of it and are not held by a semi-circular cut out at the top.
In the pic below - the one on the right is a 7th Var.  the one on the left is a 1st Var. with step down.

Thanx 32 Magnum. I had seen the other post where you had requested more information. I tried to include it in my request. I took off the grips and you were dead on. Again, thanx for your time and H&R knowledge.

You're welcome.  Glad to help out.
AND, thanks for thanking.
