You are just another example why a person should never ever buy a 30-06.

It does it all( OK there are those shotgun/pistol cartridge only type States)

That's why I got it in the first place. ;)

Thanks, Dinny

Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm gonna hold onto what I have and see where life takes me. My wife and I are going to pay down most of her our debt with this year's tax return. Next year we'll do the same and we'll be sitting pretty.  :)
I just seems a waste to have such a nice rifle sitting back there doing nothing. Oh well, guess I'll break it out for coyote hunting. That'll solve the problem of running across a lost hog. ;)

Thanks, Dinny

Dinny - I also have a  30-06 Rem 700, sitting in the back of the safe.  Used it just to sight it in, never took it hunting, had all my other favorites.  But, bought it for the same reasons I kept it; "just in case", and because I wanted a rifle in 30-06.

Keep in mind, the saying: "guns and gold, just keep going up" [in price], as time goes on.

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

Well, Dinny, you sure opened it up with this one  ;) .
I, too, have sold off and re-aquired (some, not all); in retrospect what I got for any of them wasnt enough to 'afford' to live much longer in my circumstances. I did get a reprieve on maintenance of a 'bunch o' guns' for a while.........Fact is, they would have stored away nicely. I have learned that my 'enthusiasm(s)' wax and wain, and if I wait out a doldrum I seem to come back around. I have also found that if I re-use one of the toys that has been idle that I remember why it is mine.
But........

I am glad to see you are man enough to re-evaluate your priorities (BTW, never had any doubts) and I know you will make the right decision for YOUR life. I would only council that if it is not a crisis, nor even urgent, that you give it some time.
