If there is a Williams sight made for the gun it must have to screw onto the 410 barrel. If that is the case the barrel should already be drilled and tapped. If that is the case then it should be just a matter of screwing the sight on and sighting it in. My old Savage 24s had nice blade front sights on them. they should work fine if they are tall enough. You might see if Williams has a place where you can get answers to technical questions.

A good reciever sight would really make a good improvement to a 24.

I doubt there is a 5D sight available for the Savage 24 but the dovetail sight you have can be made to stay in place.  Besides punching the dovetail slot one can use a smooth faced punch (flat face) to gently peen the sides of the dovetail down to tighten the fit. The rear sight dove tail should be tight enough that the rear sight has to be lubed and lightly driven into it..  Also the sight dovetail can be lightly peened down a bit on either side of the sight dovetail after it is centered and sighted in to lock things down a bit. Don't get carried away!

That little rear sight supplied on 24s gave me trouble once too, same thing it came loose and I couldn't get it tight. I think I just got it sighted in and then epoxied it down. Another bugabo with that sight is that it is not a standard dovetail. It is smaller than what everybody else uses.

The picture of the reciever sight looks like it is made to fit on a flat surface. I'm pretty sure any reciever you put on that gun would have to go on the lower barrel. Otherwise you couldn't open the gun, the barrel would hit the sight. I would bug the company until you get to talk to somebody who knows. It is a worthwhile project, a reciever sight would be a great improvement to the shootability of that gun.

Again take a look at the shotgun barrel, is there a couple of small holes that are plugged with tiny screws. They would be near the breech end and probably on the left side.

Brownells doesn't list that sight but if Williams does it should be OK. It looks as if it screws to the side of the action and extends over the hammer and so would require an offset hammer spur to allow easier cocking of the hammer.. I don't know how it might affect the changing of the barrel selector as that is contingent on model and variation of M24 you have(and perhaps if its been fitted with a newer style selector). The side of the action is flat so it should fit OK but drilling and tapping would be required. If the gun is in nice origianl condition significant value will be lost. I would likely prfer to fix the dovetail that is original, even if a replacement site is required.

That is the correct peep sight - it clips into the scope mount grooves atop the rear of the .22 barrel.
You may have to build up the issue front sight with Devcon or sumesuch, in order to zero the RF barrel, since IIRC the peep's line-of-sight- is a tad higher than the issue iron sights.

Don't forget to remove the old rear bbl sight, for a clean/clear sight picture - the bbl divot can be filled with a lead boolit, pounded in & filed to shape. The lead will soon lose it's brightness.

The sight in the picture mounts to the side of the receiver. There are sights that mount to 22 rimfire dovetails but most M24's don't have such dovetails.. I don't like the idea of drilling holes in old collectable savage but there may no longer be any collector value in the gun we're talking about. So using the gun is where the value is. The M24's were made with several barrel selecters including the side mounted button, and the hammer nose mounted selector. The latter was also part of a repair kit used when the transfer bar from the side mounted selector broke and parts were no longer being made. I have a 22Mag/20 gauger and it does have the dovetail on the top but it says on the barrel to not fire the shotgun with a scope mounted? I am guessing its because most 22 scopes of the day would 1)not have servived the recoil or 2)the short eye relief would have allowed the scope to hit the shooters eye...

this gun had to be  rebuilt, has the hammer selector, new wood, barrel had to be refinished, new springs etc. so really no collector value, since every gun i own is a single shot just want a accurate shooter, mainly for squirrels.

Call Williams to be sure but looks to me like a hole will need to be drilled and tapped. Not too big a deal and the little Savages tend to shoot really well at least in my experience. The side of the action that has to be drilled will give good support as long as the action to  barrels fit is good. And I really like receiver sights.. in fact I've a 5D on my Marlin 39..

got a call from Williams today that sight was designed as a receiver sight for pre 70s Stevens such as mine requires 2 drill and tap holes on the receiver,  left hand side that particular sight is designed for the low front sight on my rifle, says i can also get a screw in 410 aperture, for using the shotgun. will try to find one now
