The 40 / 240, the 45 / 300, and the 45, 340 are all sub- 1" . . . so, it is hard for me to tell the difference between the three (the .40 / 220, .44 / 300s did not do nearly as well).
With smokeless, the 240 and 300s shoot at very close to the same velocity, both are pleasant to shoot. The 340 gets a little stout with faster loads, is a small bit harder to seat with more bearing surface, and hardly seems required unless Alaskan moose or brown bear are on the menu.
So, for the time being anyway, the .45 / 50 300 DC looks to be ideal.
