I have found most older 16 ga drillings are Not on face. The following is a quick test to determine if the gun is on face.
1. Removed the forearm. (the action might appear to be tight with the forearm on)
2. Take the grip in one hand, the barrels in the other, and wiggle up and down, checking for any looseness or play.
If there is no play or looseness the gun is "On Face"
On a drilling it cost approximately $600 to tighten the action....
Hope this test helps to determine if the drilling needs to be put back "On Face"
