coupla questions

1. When did marlin come out with the Micro Groove* barrels?

2. I recently took in trade a pre safety 336 with a v 6xxx serial#,walnut pistol grip stock,20" barrel, with a 1/2 tube magazine sorta lake the old 336A but with the short 20" barrel, first one I've seen..Any additional info?
Lost between sunrise and sunset yesterday-one golden hour...never to be found or reclaimed:-(

Rimfires Micro-Groove in the early 1950's, Centerfires were added in the mid 1950's.  The V prefix would be Aug 1961 through 1962.

Thanks for the info..done some diggin here seems as how it's a sc (sporting carbine) has metal end cap on forearm and 2/3 magazine.. :)

I have a 36G (64-65), it's the cheaper Marlin/Glenfield of your 336, it has the 20" barrel 2/3 magizne with beech wood.  Those ol Marlins with the walnut stock had awsome wood.  It should be a good shooter.

Got it cleaned up and really,really like the balance and heft of it ;) .it may just replace my old 336c..  :-\
