The search is your friend. ;) You should spend some time reading the FAQ.   http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/topic,26264.0.html
I have had 2 and regret loosing both of them.

i had a hornet about 25 years ago it shot killed ground diggers an badger they are accurate but to reload was touchy case necks are fragile when seating bullets. its a handy rifle my son has it now i don't know if he shoots it at all. i have a 204 ruger handy that i really like now.

OK,
is the fragility of the case neck really solved by reaming out to K-Hornet?
is the reaming from Hornet to K-Hornet a home workshop job that most of us can do?

Opinions please.

Mine shoots good, but it took a lot of shooting to find a load it liked. Im using Lil Gun and 45gr soft points.

I have 2 of them. They both are extremely accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Both are reamed to K hornet and tho they couldn't be more accurate I am still fireforming brass and my fireforming load is 9.0 gr of vv 110 under hornady 40 gr v max at around 2600 fps holding 1/2" groups at 100 yards. I have had no problem with brass at all. I don't expect much more accuracy with the k just better terminal performance. You will not regret a hornet so go for it and enjoy.

I love mine, got it on a trade and had planned to just keep the reciever, but after shooting it I can't imaging not having a handi in Hornet. I did not and don't plan to ream it since I have .223 also there is no need to change it. So if you ream it or not it is a LOVED caliber in the Handi.  thejanitor

Not that you couldn't hand ream a 22 Hornet to a 22K Hornet, I strongly advise against it. If you get off just a little you will cut a gouge in the side of the chamber that will not ream out. I also strongly suggest going to the K Hornet. Longer case life, generally better accuracy, easier to load, slightly higher velocity (not a lot).
I have a 22K hornet and it shoots very well with different loads.

These are not hot loads. My Handi 22K Hornet will out shoot my Savage 22 Hornet model 40 any day of the week. I used 34 grain bullets, 50 grain bullets and 40 grain bullets with Lil'Gun, W296 and 1680 using WSR primers and small pistol primers, it shoots every thing well, just some better than others.

Here is picture of the offending Handi

YUP.. Just like the other guys told ya, we love our 22Hornets!

Mine likes a med loading of 4198 and a 45G Hornet bullet. w\easy at or just under 1"... A max load of Lil Gun and a 35G Hornady does just as well!!

CW, it took me a minute to notice the gun (even though it's awful pretty) in your pic. Where did that shed come from?  :o

LOL, you got me. I was counting up inches, and assuming 190-200class whitetail, before I even noticed the rifle :)

Your NOT the first!! LOL
About ten years ago, a good friend became a registered scorer for P&Y... I told him I had something for him to measure.. then let it lay.. weeks later I reminded him saying It was pretty big.. a week or so later I said it was still here and I was looking hard for the mate as it was the biggest I had ever seen and enclosed a picture. He CALLED me! LOL  I then avoided him for a couple weeks. giving a lame excuse every-time he offered to stop by. Finally about two months later he caught me with two friends demanding to see and measure the rack. Man did his buddies got a good laugh as he was all but drooling over the story I cooked up as he was holding the horn in his hands... They about teased him to death when I dropped the bomb telling him it was not a right hand side Whitetail rack but a LEFT hand MOOSE horn!!!!!  GOOD TIMES!!

OK, I got the barrel a while back but haven't used it yet.  Reloading stuff slowly compiling.  Planned on the K hornet reaming, BUT someone cautioned against it.

As usual I'm hesitant now, so who's used the GBO reamer and how about some advise.  Done 357 maxi already and well, but a straight case.  Very much would like to do it good.

Oh, CW as usual you did something great.  No lefty thumbholes, so I gotta modify a 'normal' stock.  Using the green one I already did, and naming my shooter... well you know.

Thanks.

Maybe I just don't get it, but it seems like you could easily load a .223 to the same specs but have none of the problems with case life or finding brass as you do with the Hornet. Not to mention you can then load it up to full .223 levels.
I very seriously looked into a Hornet for a long time and almost bought one if I had been able to find one, despite the case-life issues I kept seeing. But, then I made the above realization.

And then I took it a step further and got a .308 :P .

There you go, getting all practical and everything ::) I presently have 2 - 223's one is a Handi Ultra Varmint with 1-12" twist (the only rimless case I have in a Handi rifle) and the other is a heavy barreled Stevens 200 1 - 14" twist set up for 40 grain bullets. I really like the .224 calibers, of any kind. I also have 2 - 221 Fireballs one a heavy barreled 26" Remington 700 and the the other a 23" T/C Carbine. I also have a 22 Hornet, a  Savage model 40 along with the Handi 22K Hornet pictured above. I also have a couple of 22 Magnum rimfire rifles and a heavy barreled Stevens 200 22 BR with a 1-8" twist for 75 - 80 grain bullets. That does not count loose barrels I have, another 18" 221 Fireball, a couple of 22" 1-9" twist 223's and a heavy 222 VS Remington barrel. More than likely a couple more I have not thought of right now. I will have another 222 Remington of some kind before too much time passes. Why would I want a 222 with all the other options I have? I do not NEED one, I just want one! I can not speak for others, being practical has nothing to do with it. If it did, everyone would have a 223 and the 22 Hornet would have went away a long time ago. Instead, you can still buy several different kinds of rifles in 22 Hornet - they have to be selling some.

Good Shooting and Good Luck.

I have a 223.  It's got a youth stock on it and is seriously in jeopardy of losing a couple of inches.  For my daughter.

The hornet barrel I traded for, just to play with.  Fun... you know...?

The best reason for the K-Hornet is that one can headspace off the shoulder and eliminate the rim thickness differences. That being said, I am on my 15th reloading of a batch of standard hornet cases using Hodgdons L'il Gun. Have fun with it!

I used the GBO K-Hornet reamer about a week ago and just got done fire forming my first box of brass about an hour ago. It was an easy job, brass last longer, its easier to size, and you get a little extra speed... What's to suggest against?

:) . Okay, I completely understand the "because it's neat / fun" aspect of it :D . Hell, a .223 or even .357 Handi could have done everything I wanted (just a casual target shooter), but the .308 seemed cooler, haha (and I was able to justify the increased ammo cost and recoil with the above logic :P ). I just wondered if there was something I was missing that really made the Hornet better :) .
