Gander Mountain
« on: November 14, 2011, 10:10:04 AM »
I had about $25.00 of free money vouchers that were going to expire after today. Thought I'd pick up a pound of powder, 1680 if they had it. No 1680 but they had several Hodgdons reduced to $19.97. I used another voucher that didn't expire till Jan so I ended up buying 8 pounds. I haven't seen powder for that price for a while. I'm sure somebody will be doing something with it after i die. They had bullets 50% off the clearance price last week. I heard they are getting out of reloading. You might want to check if you have a G.M. in your area. The powder wasn't that low a few days ago.

A month ago I bought a 14 oz can of 700X for under $12 at the local Gander Mountain.  I think Gander has some real issues as they keep swinging back and forth on whether to sell reloading supplies.   I don't pay any attention to their other stock so not sure what is up there.   I wouldn't be all that surprised to see the local GM go under as there is a Bass Pro to the south and Cabelas to the north of them.  Place is never busy when I am there.

Our local GMt. is doing away with reloading in general I was told , which really doesnt hurt my feelings since they are always way over priced.

I was in Marquette, MI yesterday and stopped in Gander specifically for 1680.  No, they didn't have it.  I didn't price any other powder, but I was looking for bullets.  All I found were Hornady XTPs.  Gander is a hundred miles from my home.

Bullets are almost all gone at this G.M.
They have many thousands of primers because they are $3.99 a hundred. But they were on sale the other day. Brass is way overpriced.
Today they had Rem 30-30 170gr for $7.99 with $2 factory and $2 Gander rebate. The 150s were gone. They did similar with 308s the other day. I'm gonna keep checking, sometimes they just up and sell stuff for half price and then it's reasonable.
For some reason their prices just kept going up & up for loading supplies and factory ammo. Everytime we get a store here with a lot of shooting stuff, they get too high and then they go under :'(

The local GM has dropped reloading supplies. they had only 1 pound of powder in stock and very little else.  I have become very disappointed with GM in general over the last couple of years.  I used to be able to get some good buys both in used guns and other stuff.  Now they buy guns for only 50% of their resell price where it used to pay 70%, so obviously there are fewer available.  Almost everything is overpriced, especially their brand stuff, and the sales are usually pitiful.  I think that they are trying to draw the yuppie crowd over us more basic types.

Yes it's here in DO DA and it stinks for merchandise unless your looking for clothes.Their reloading supplies were all on a four foot square counter the last time i was in there. At least we're getting a Cabellas pretty soon.Hope it's as good as the one in Ft.Worth.

Gander's down here in S.C. Wi seem to be going out of reloading stuff too, and other than overpriced 'yuppie' stuff (no Pete, not Yuper stuff) they dont have much.

The last time I was in our local GM there was not a whole lot of supplies. They used to have a lot of RCBS reloading dies, just about anything you could want. Now, nothing. I say they are reaping what they sowed. Primer prices at $5 a hundred and they limited what you could get to 200 at a time. The primer prices are still at 3.99/100. I did not pay $3.99 let alone $5 for primers, even in the height of the primer scare. Powder prices went from about $20 to $30 a pound over night. Bullet prices were always high. $24/100 when I could buy the same thing on line for $16/100. I do not like to be gouged, even if supplies are difficult to get. I made a pledge back then that they were not getting any of my business and I have not bought anything there for reloading since. Sounds like others made the same decision.

Good Luck and Good Shooting
