460-500 shooters, what rest are you using
« on: November 04, 2011, 01:52:18 PM »
Just wondering what rest 460-500 shooters are using.I have ruined one of my good leather shooting bags already. The blast is pretty rough on things.Even with the 8 3/8" barrel the blast goes back a ways. Then you have to watch not to get to close to the cylinder.

It's the nature of the beast. I found puttin' duct tape over the leather bags works well. Replacing the tape is cheaper than replacing the bags. My portable shooting bench has a metal rest covered with vinyl that has fared well, but the soft top of the bench itself has suffered. Just the price we must pay...... ;)

I taped up my bags already. The rest I am using is just a standard Hoppes rest with three legs.Looking now for something more pistol specific.Spent the afternoon shooting it,first since mounting a scope.Don't regret doing now I am seeing just how well it will shoot.Next time I want somebody to video me.Would love to see some slow motion video,it sure is violent.

I hardly evre shoot mine off of a bench rest. When I do I have a cabelas granite rest, it has a cast iron base probly weighs about 15-16lbs very stable.
