14.5

Depends on what muzzle-gun I'm using.  Seems like when I have the gun with the lowest power scope I get my longest shots go figure...Shot a doe yesterday neck shot at 90 yards, not 200 yards ...but still need a lot of scope.

I shot two deer this fall at over 200 yards with a six-power scope but think a 3-9 or 2.5-10 is likely more suitable, especially at the range. The size of my groups increase by about 50% at the range when using the 6x versus the 10x.

A while back, when I was testing a bunch of scopes, a corporate Leupold representative told me, "Nobody puts scopes on muzzleloaders." With some twenty scoped muzzleloaders on hand at the time, I found that answer amusing.

It unfortunate that many folks behind the counter advise their customers that muzzleloading rifles need "heavy reticle shotgun / muzzleloader scopes." There are few inline muzzleloaders today that cannot approximate .30-30 ballistics-- and few counter salespeople would suggest that that is not a "real" rifle calling for a "rifle" scope.

A good 3-9, 3.5-10, 2.5-10, or 3-12 should be fine.

Take a peek at the $199 for a Sightron SII 3 x 9 x 42 that Triple 7 mentioned-- you won't be sorry, and that will look great on your Encore.

Promise.

Randy. did you ever try sticking the Sightron on the deepfreeze for a few hours and then pulling out? I'm just interested to see if it will fog inside.
