Acc Barrels for Canadians
« on: December 01, 2011, 12:35:48 AM »
does anyone know if Canadians have access to accessory barrels in Canada?  is there a dealer up here?

Importing is out of the question, due to cost.

thanks for the replies

Seems like the reason is the cost

a barrel costs about $250, and shipping, and maybe a fitting charge.

after all said and done, it looks like it would cost about $350 to buy and fit a barrel.

New rifles START at around $310

I have bought two items , one of them being a barrel from fellow members here at GBO through the classifieds and both made it to my door in Ontario, no hassles from customs on either one. I also shipped a stock to a member in the U.S with no problems either.

Of course as soon as i say this the next item i end up buying won't get cleared, but that is the chance you take shipping accross the border.

Adam:  I'm surprised you found someone to ship them north.  potential for beaucoup trouble.

but I'd be willing to risk a few bucks to get a barrel.

It would have to be a private person to person situation. NEF or whatever they call themselves now does not offer that program in Canada. I would wait 'til that Long Gun Registry is actually gone because until it is you are obligated to inform Big Brother of any Caliber changes to your rifle including accessory barrels.

Well the registry will be gone within the next year hopefully sooner but i did call them and they said they didn't care about the extra barrel, its only the frame they cared about, same goes when you buy a 3 barrel set for a shotgun or t/c rifle extra barrels, you don't need to register them, beleive me i called them twice just to make sure the first person wasn't full of sh*&. But since the prices are coming down now i have seen new rifles advertised for $ 260 and shotguns about $ 110 I just buy the complete rifles now, plus i find interchanging barrels a bit of a pain anyway, i like the ease of just picking it out of the safe ready to go.
