I have not been in touch with the lady at the print shop as I had hoped due to the death of
my youngest sons fall baseball coach and a very good friend to me also.
He was only 22 and a great kid!
I should be able to get with her the first of the week.

Now, back to the point at hand.
I was able to talk to the lady at the printers and have some solid info for you now.
The calendars are done on card stock which is much thicker than just plain paper but not as stiff as cardboard.
The pages will bend.
The size is 8.5" x 11" standard size of a sheet of printer paper.
Pages would be white with black grid lines and numbers along with any wording such as the month and days of the week.
Again, standard way of doing them.
There would be 13 pictures total (1 for each month on the opposing page) along with a cover page, all in color with about 1/2" white border all the way around the photo.
So really the pictures would be 8" x 10.5" done in landscape style.
A separate clear sheet of thin plastic is used to protect the cover.
We can put a description below each photo of 1 line, (black lettering at 12pt font size) as long as it is no longer than the photo.
In other words, what ever will fit in 10.5" at 12pt font size.
This should allow us to have room for a brief description of the gun along with the members screen name.

The back of the calendar would be plain white.
The spiral wire that holds all the pages together would be black and allows the calendar to fold over in half and still lay flat.
She broke the price down in two different quantities.
The first quantity was for 1 to 99 calendars at a price of $8.05 each.
The second quantity is for 100 or more at a price of $5.60 each, a great savings if we can sell that many.
I have heard that shipping could cost about $2.00 each plus the cost of the envelope to ship them in.
Not sure, would need to check into that more.
Of course we need to add in a couple of bucks for the GBO site to help it out.
Looks like we should be able to deliver them at a price below $12.00 or $13.00 I would think.

Can anyone think of anything I may have missed?
With the ones I would take we are already over 20 committed so far.
Not bad for not even knowing what it was going to cost.
I think now that we have a better idea of the cost members may be more willing to step up and commit.
I would be willing to take care of the ordering on my end and pay for them with the understanding that I would be reimbursed the actual cost.
I want nothing out of this dollar wise.
I would then ship them to whoever it is that would see that they were delivered (mailed).
Maybe a committee as suggested earlier.
I would think the orders from members would need to be paid in advance to be sure we have enough to both fill and pay for the printing cost.
Maybe a special account on GBO to send your payments to.

I am not sure how this might work and I will leave these matters up to (again) whoever???
I think the best way to choose the photos would be a vote by the members after their photos were submitted.
The lady did say that the clearer the photo the better the calendar would turn out so please, take the best pics you can.
She also said they would need to be in either JPEG or TIFF file format
I think we need to run this by GRAYBEARD (Bill) for his ok before we go much farther.
That is about all I can think of at this time except may I suggest that we use the GRAYBEARD site homepage LOGO as the cover of our first calendar.

Thanks for all the info and leg-work you've been doing. Since my wife bought a new camera, external flash and tripod, I think everyone should send me their most prized Handi rifles and I'll take the pics.

When the calendar is done, I'll try to get the Handis back to everyone, if I haven't moved to Mexico first.

I'd like to see some well used guns with charecter as well. All my Handi's are well used, some don't show it, but others do. Them's good looking guns.

I have sent a PM to Bill (Graybeard) to see what he thinks about this and asked him to let us know.
I know time is getting short in order to have these for the 2012 calendar year but I think we are still OK if we don't wast much time.
I don't want to jump the gun here but if GB does agree to this, I think all payments should be made to GBO and marked calendar funds.
The same way we make donations to the site.
Also we will need to start getting those pics to vote on.
This will have to be done in a fairly short time frame in order to get them out by the first of the year.
I guess a thread just for pics could be set up for members to post their photos to along with a very short description of the gun and their screen name used on GBO.
This would run for a short time then a vote would be taken to see which makes the cut.
Again, working on a short time frame???
We will have to remember that the lady at the print shop said JPEG or TIFF file format only and the better the quality of the pic, the better the calendar will turn out!
We still need lots more members to commit to buying these before we go out on a limb for the price of 100 calendars !!!

OK, I think I have the final cost of these including shipping.
price break down:

1-Calendars are $5.60 @ if we order 100 of them.
2-Add .60 cents if we add the major holidays to each month.
3-.90 cents for the envelope to mail them in.
4- $1.85 flat rate to ship one calendar to anywhere in the US except Alaska & Hawaii. I forgot to get those.
5- $2.00 donation for the GBO site for letting us do this and to help keep the site going.
This comes to:
$10.95 total shipped
Let's just call it $11.00 to make it easy for now.
While I was there I did check on a few other shipping costs.
Anyone wanting more than one calendar then the shipping would raise accordingly.
If you want two then the shipping cost would be $3.70.
If you take at least three then we would use the USPS flat rate envelopes at a cost of $4.95 which would save you money.
I am not sure how many will fit in a flat rate envelope at this time, maybe four or five, just guessing???
I will try to find out as soon as possible!
To Canada it would be about .50 cents extra each (unless you took three or more) to ship.
To Australia it would be about $3.00 extra each (unless you took three or more) to ship.
These costs are keeping everything at a bare minimum.
Just to make sure everything is covered I would say a finial price of $12.00 shipped anywhere in the 48 US states.Extra where needed.

Now, as to how we are going to get this done.
A couple of members have offered to help in different ways and this is surely appreciated.
The only problem I see is this contains making payments back & forth between us to make sure all get reimbursed for whatever cost they may incur.
I am not trying to be the head guy on this but I don't see any way to keep the costs down except for me to do the main leg work.
Maybe someone could keep a running total of the numbers sold along with who they were sold to, how many to each member along with their shipping info and screen name for each.
It would also be very helpful if they could put them in a nice neat list form or spreed sheet and then send it to me.
This would make addressing the lables a lot easier!!!

You will need to give your name & address info along with the total number of calendars you want.

I will also start a thread for you to post your gun pics along with a short description of it and your GBO user name.
This will have to be keep to a single line with a maximum of 84 characters including spaces using a
#12 font.
example:
H&R Handi 45-70 with custom 16.5" barrel and custom Lam wood with scope Love 2 Shoot

Hope this meets with everyone's approval.
I hope I have covered everything and while doing so I have not offended anyone.
Suggestions are welcome.

Sounds great to me. Some thoughts for you. I have run over a dozen group buys, thus, I would say make the price $15 per calendar. You are having to get all this going in sort of a rush and it's easy, very easy to miss something. If you do and don't charge enough the problem them comes out of your pocket. If you end the whole buy with nothing unanticipated and have money left over, send it to the board. Win, win. This is what I did and it worked out well. I could be wrong but I don't think that $15 is too much.

Also please link any other threads you start for this buy to this thread to help us in not missing them.

Just suggestions, you do what you feel is best. Good luck! And thanks a helluva lot!!
