« on: November 06, 2011, 02:37:02 AM »
Was out sighting in yesterday with my son and my brother. My son has a Rem 870 rifled barrel my brother mossberg 500 rifled barrel and me win 1300 rifled barrel. We were all shooting same sabot slugs (Hornaday) .I noticed on the target that their hits were small bullet hole and mine looked like I was hitting it with a full size lead slug.Anyone have any input on the different size holes.thank you

IF the slugs came from different boxes, look in the end of the rounds and see if someone swapped sabouts for fosters. If that isn't it I wouldn't have another guess. ear

blind ear I went and check all the boxes and they all had the 300 grain looks to be XTP. Almost looks like the plastic sabot casing is staying on and not coming off .Thats all I could come up with.

I just shot Federal Truball 2 3/4 , 3/4 oz maximum @ 30 yards. 3 rounds - 4 holes. three holes were obvious slug holes, the fourth was ragged and irregular about 3 or 4 inches from the other holes. The slug holes were grouped 3 to 4 inches apart and the ragged hole made almost a square pattern/the 4th corner. go figure. They won't work well enough for what I want in that 20ga with a modified barrel, a Mossberg 5oo.  I have others to try.
