Installing Chokes

I am a amature smith and would like to try to ream and thread a 12 ga, barrel for a removeable choke. I have a lathe and can rent the reamer and tap,Is this a doeable job for a guy with basic lathe skills?

Yes. It will require verifying the barrel wall thickness and the bore diameter but I'd include reasoning skills as well as measuring skills to be included in basic lathe skills.
