« on: November 23, 2011, 04:08:12 PM »
ive got a cowboy classic that i changed stock on as to not ruin the walnut stock during hunting operations. i noticed that it was skeletonized. is this an sb1 or sb2. if sb2, then that would be great but just not sure how they came. thanx for any help.

Yep, and you can get a loan reamer and make it into a .454 Casull really easy.

Mine shoots the .45LC and .454 equally well.
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

The guys got it right, she is factory made on a SB2 reciever. My own is re chambered to 454 and is a great shooter.

ive already reamed mine out to 454, but has anyone gone to 460 s&w. if so, where do i get the reamer and how were the results? this means i can use rifle barrels on this reciever which is definitely a plus since i dont have many sb2s.

Tim, (Quickdtoo) did. he shoots and enjoys his 460.  I believe out site sponsor, and site supporter 4D reamer rentals can take care of the reamer rental. But I have not looked to be sure.

Personally, I don't have the need, they will do nothing my 45-70 doesn't already and likely not as well to boot! My 45 Colts have done everything I needed. But the top loadings simply work better in a 454 case. So I went to 454, but not for more power, simply for more efficiency.

As CW said, 4D has the reamer, in fact Fred has it because I kept pestering him to get one, I was the first to rent it from him! Factory Hornady 200gr FTX ammo averages almost 2900fps in the 20" 460 barrel, 250gr SST(FTX) around 2500-2600fps.
