94 Trapper
« on: August 10, 2011, 07:56:44 PM »
Went down to my best friends house tonight for our weekly BS session when a mutual friend stopped by with a 94 Trapper in 44 mag he wanted to sell.
The gun has been shot very little with a few marks on the receiver and one in the wood from riding around on the front of a 4 wheeler.
Nice and tight with really nice grain in the wood.
I already have two in 30-30 and 45 colt so when he said $350.00 I couldn't turn it down.
Mainly bought it for my collection but it may see a few days in the woods this deer season before it gets put up.
Maybe one day I will have the whole set of them.
Not sure how many calibers they were offered in.
I am pretty sure there was one in 357.
Anyone have one chambered in something else?

AFAIK, the post-64 Trappers (16" bbls) were only issued in four chamberings, .30-30, .357, .44Mag/.44Spec, & .45 Colt.

IIRC, the .32 Special & .38-55 standard & big-loop Wrangler & Wrangler II's were never labeled as "Trappers" by Winchester, even though they also had 16" bbls.

Thanks Rangr.
I had forgot about the last two.
I do recall seeing a 16" 38-55 at a gun show.
Even if they weren't called trappers with a 16" barrel they would surely qualify in my book.

I'd love to get one in 30-30 but they just ain't around up in these parts. There is a .44 mag in nib condition going for $900.
But, a 30-30 Trapper would make a great little bush gun and sit nicely with the rest of my other 30-30's ;)

This is nice wood. I would love one in .357
