Interesting that it was listed on south Florida but has Jax as the location.  I checked the Jacksonville listings and it is not there.

Same here, but the $1500 isn't so tempting...

Rick's already said it, but I'll say it again; that's a darn good price for a 48-inch steel Parrott that  seems to be pretty nicely shaped.

I just called.  It is legit.

I spoke with a gentleman named Kevin.  He says he has had it for several years.  He said a cruise ship out of the Bahamas had it and used it for firing salutes on-board.  The bore is 2.25", and he said the OD at the breech is 10-11".  He believes it is turned steel, not cast iron.  The carriage is made to look naval, but there are no wheels now.  It is actually set and attached on a dolly with casters.

He is located 3-4 miles off I-95 not too far from the Jax airport.

I can not drop $1500 on anything right now.  I just bought a boat.  But I might help broker a deal and grab it if one of you are interested.

He is FIRM on the $1500 price, and has spoken with several people about it, including some reenactors.  Most are distant though.

I have his direct email address now.  PM me if interested.

Looks like one of South Bend's tubes.

SBR did/does make a few different scale models of the 10-pdr Parrott, but the ¾ scale was 59'' long with a 2¼'' bore, and the ½ scale model was 39½'' long with a 1½'' bore.

If I read it correctly that would put it to only an inch difference in length.

This one is 48" long making it 66% if using a 10lber as your standard. He has posted a few new pics on Craigslist this afternoon at my request, guess it's road trip time- 9hrs each way.  Would be very cool mounted on a sliding barbette mount and a nice companion for my Confederate Tredegar 10lber. Have a look at the new pics and let me know what you think, particularly regarding the muzzle and trunnion shots.

I don't see any difference in the pics.  Have him email them to you.

Why couldn't it be in Tampa?  I have to go over there for work this week.

He can take them and put them on Craigslist but can't attach to an email?

I'd love to go see it, but 155 miles is a long way for a joy ride.  I wonder what it is like down the bore, away from the muzzle.

Realistically, what would this weigh?  300#, 400#, more?

I've seen other sales and auctions where the seller has listed the bore depth instead of the o/a length, so it's possible that this is a ¾ scale SBR Parrott (it has the right bore size). I guess 'little seacoast' is going to find out when he gets there. I saved and zoomed in on the muzzle shot, but can't make out any liner ring through the rust (not great photos).

Mike,
The weight of an SBR ¾ scale Parrott is 400 lbs., and it's a cast iron barrel with a steel bore sleeve (2¼'' bore would be ¼'' wall thickness).

Well I hope that its what he's looking for. Sure hope that it is. Glad to see that someone here may get it. $1500 is kinda out of my pocketbook. Would need one heck of an electrolis ( you know what I mean) tank to put it in to remove the rust. Frank

I would be very wary or this since he has never listed it in JAX!!!! may be a hot piece.  Also seems to have moved it around a bit.  Tank would be easy for this plywood and heavy visqueen.

Doubt the barrel has a serial number but worth a shot.  Looked around and only a small cannon in the area was reported stolen, 500-year old cannon stolen Jacksonville, Florida.

Surprised to see this thread back from the dead- neither fish nor fowl apparently. KABOOM I purchased the barrell it's a 3/4 scale SBR much to my surprise and in pretty good shape.  A lot more gun than I was counting on, see the other Parrott in Florida thread.
