Looks like he's a big enough man to tell the truth on this issue, that most ignore... ain't it great to have some non-ideologue soldiers in service?

So much for all the hysterical prattling about how this will undermine The Mission. I think most of that comes from peeps who think The Mission is to enforce their religious preferences & prejudices.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Fine, but I'll bet the top marine won't be volunteering to shower and sleep with the queers.  And in any case, what kind of weirdo queer would want to inject himself into that environment; there would have to be several screws loose in that noggin.

Why is it those of us not serving at the moment are so fixated about homosexuals who are?

Does sexual preference, keep one from following orders? From being able to pull the trigger? From applying life saving medical aid? From being a good soldier/sailor or marine?

Yes, I would be creeped out taking a shower with 60 guys and know some of them are checking out the equipment. If I went over to the ladies showers and checked out the equipment I would be in the brig.

I think we would all be shocked at the people around us who are homosexuals, and exactly how many are serving.

I don't approve of homosexualality but I find it bad manners to chase them down the street with sticks.

Prejudice, dressed up on as religious preference or somesuch excuse for bad behavior & telling others what to do.

Not if you were a lesbian!

We probably all had our "equipment" checked out in PE in high school, just didn't realize it. With all the news lately it was probably the gym teacher/coach doing most of the checking.

SHU. No, of course it doesn't. Legalizing it and condoning it will just increase the depravity and immorality that is already rampant. Ft Knox has a paper called the turrett. A few yrs ago several soldiers wrote a letter that he could no longer take his family to the clubs without seeing guys kissing guys and girls kissing girls. Terrible influence on the children. He didn't want his children subjected to deviates like that, I certainly don't blame them. POWDERMAN.  :( :(

This country deserves to be defended by America's best and in my book that alone disqualifies queers.  People who have a problem with their sexuality should work it out somewhere other than in our military.

As I have said many times I do not approve of homosexuality. However hate is one one of those things with diminshing returns. There have been homosexuals serving in the military for many years, you can go way back in time on that. I think a person would actually be suprised to find how many homosexuals you come into contact with and not know it.
I would like to think that Jesus during his time on earth mingled with the common man, chatted with and had dinner with all manner of people not ignoring someone of low morals or social standing. Really he had dinner with prostitutes, samaritans and tax collectors; the so called deviants of the day. A few of his disciples were fishermen (do you know a bigger group of liars ;D )
So in this whole thing I would have to ask how would Jesus want me to deal with my fellow man?

All true; and He caught some heat from the fundamentalists of the day for the company He kept (see Mark 2:13-17).

SHU. I have no problem with them serving discretely, get back in the closet and lock it. I do have a problem with the govt condoning sin and promoting these perverts. Other than promoting sin and encouraging perverted sexual depravity what did this accomplish?? It certainly didn't benefit the quality of our military and definitely not America. How did this help America?? POWDERMAN.  :o :o

PM,
Point well taken. I guess what I am trying to say is why is the goverment this involved in private lives. Just as each of us must consider our choices each day and our conduct-does the government really need to be that involved?
I am for each judging for himself and judging himself. We do have a standard of living set up for us. It is awfully hard to live up to that standard sometimes. I think someone once said when you pray for those you hate you actually start to learn what love is. I have to agree strongly with that statement.
There are a few doors that need to reamain shut.

And with YT3 being a fisherman-heck yes I would fish with him. It's about the fishing and then later over a good meal when he's not around of course -I out fished him, put him to shame I did, that would be my story and I am sticking with it. ;D

At some point I'm pretty sure that the standards for our military could slump into some degree of depravity that would alarm even the most liberal of you.  Pedophiles, necrophilians and all types of boogers are probably next.  I prefer my military to be straight arrow and staight quiver.

I've heard that the military tolerates fornication by its members - is this really true?
