One powder for both 44 Mag and 500 S&W
« on: January 15, 2004, 06:50:47 AM »
Any suggestions on a powder I can use for both?  Once a powder is suggested, bullet and load suggestions are also needed?

Since they are both magnum pistol cartridges, I'm sure that H110 would fill your requirement nicely, but at near-max pressure and velocity only!  Trust me, I just got done with a series of under-powered H110 loads in my .454 Casull, you don't want to under-load H110.  For plinking loads I'm sure Unique would work, but you don't own a .44 mag and a .500 for plinking, do you?

Light Loads

Selmer, On the subject of the Unique light load are you thinking 6.8-7.0 grain range and a cast bullet?  On the 500 S&W I intend to shoot the 275
JHP in the Corbon factory Load nothing heavier.  I will leave the 400 & 440 Grain loads to someone else.
