does any one have a reload for the savage 99 in 22 hi-power

5.6 X 52R (in Europe). Slug your barrel to be sure, but I think it is going to take a .227" diameter bullet. I do not think anyone has a jacketed bullet for it so it will be a cast bullet item only if it is .227". They are based on a 25-35 case

The only data I have is for a custom Mauser that takes .224" bullets. A 55 grain bullet and IMR 4895 is a starting load of 31.4 for 3300 fps or so. It says you can go up to 34.6 for 3600 fps, but that is more than likely pushing it pretty hard.

I also have a load of 13.9 of IMR 4227 for 2100 fps with a FMJ 55 grain. You will get around the same, maybe a little more with a hard cast bullet with a gas check.

is one source of cast bullets that are 60 grains and .228" diameter. I am guessing a little based on the 55 grain data (old Hornady #3 manual) I have.  I would think that 14.0 grains or there abouts of IMR 4227 would be a good load for the 60 grain cast bullet with a gas check.

I have load data for the 22 Sav. Hi-Power in my old Lyman #45 manual. I would advise to start at the starting load and work you way up

I did not know that there were still Jacketed bullets available for the the Hi-Power Hornady quit making them years ago.

That looks like good load data to me and the 70 grain bullet was the standard for the 22 Hi-Power.

I think it's the same bullet that Midway sells one claims there's is .227 and the other is .228 either will probably work,plus the Hornady bullets are cheaper.  The data is from the Lyman #45 Obsolete and Semi-Obsolete cartridge reloading section.  I have cast bullet date for 60 & 78 gr. cast bullets as well.

The Lyman manual states that a small percentage of rifles chambered in the 22 Hi-Power have .229 dia. grooves and the oversized cast bullet would probably shoot better but I suspect that's probably in European chambered  rifles.  From what I understand 22 cal. cat bullets generally shoot the most accurately around 1500 to 1800 fps.  At least there cast bullet accuracy loads suggest that,I can't say as I've never cast and shot 22 cal. bullet yet.
